MODERATORS

JAY BRYANT is a communications consultant best known for his work in politics. He is a frequently featured commentator on the National Public Radio’s All Things Considered. His Internet columns are available on the website www.TownHall.com. Mr. Bryant was the producer of the TV discussion program, At Issue, seen nationally on the Discovery Channel and CNBC.

He is co-author with Gregory H. Bohlen of the novel, The Sugar Rat, published by New Gutenberg Books.

Mr. Bryant served as assistant to the late Illinois Governor Richard Ogilvie, as well as a special assistant to former Congressman Bob Michel (IL) and Senator Bill Brock (TN). He also served as Communications Director of both the National Republican Congressional Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee, though not at the same time.

Mr. Bryant developed the first generic political party TV advertising program and once named a war. He has created political campaign advertising in more than 60 winning U.S. Senatorial and Congressional elections and has served as a consultant to political candidates in Canada and Central America. In addition, he has helped many of America’s largest corporations and most respected associations improve their public image.

He attended Northwestern University on a full academic scholarship from General Motors. Under the personal sponsorship of Milton Friedman, he received an H.B. Earhart fellowship for graduate study. As a college senior, he won a coveted internship at WGN Television in Chicago and was subsequently hired by WGN as a writer and programming assistant. His writing credits at WGN included the Emmy Award-winning, The All Time Hits. Later, as producer-director for the State of Maine Educational TV Network, he was executive producer of the nationally-recognized special, A New England Town Meeting. A published poet, he holds two degrees in speech from Northwestern University and has taught speech at the University of Maine.
